Purpose
The purpose of this all day symposium is to enhance participants’ knowledge about youth (ages 10-19) and young adult (ages 20-29) suicide, so that appropriate assessment and interventions can be made and lives may be saved. This will be a comprehensive program aimed at providing the most up-to-date information, practical guidance, and understanding on youth and young adult suicide prevention, crisis response, and postvention.
About the Keynote Speaker
David Jobes, PhD, is a clinical psychologist, Professor of Psychology at The Catholic University of America, and past president of the American Association of Suicidology. A clinician, researcher, teacher, author, and trainer, Dr. Jobes has devoted a major portion of his career to the study of youth and adult suicide. He has written extensively on the subject, and has co-authored the book, Adolescent Suicide: Assessment and Intervention. His presentations have been well received at conferences and conventions both nationally and internationally. David lives with his wife and two children in the Washington, DC area.

Chaplains, counselors, clergy, EMT’s, family members, funeral directors, mental health professionals, nurses, police, physicians, psychologists, school teachers and administrators, social workers and others interested in suicide prevention.
